You can see that the original size tag states 3/8 and NOT 7-3/8, this just shows this is a very very early version of the Stetson Whippet!
The original tag states size 3/8 Long Oval and this actually measures to a PERFECT 7-3/8. Even though it states Long Oval, these older true vintage hats are so pliable it will easily conform to any head shape! Long Oval or Not! We will include the length and width of the head hole for you anyway, below in Details.
We know it says Long Oval but this was on a stretcher and because the Leather sweatband is still so soft and pliable it will easily conform to any head shape! This is NOTHING like newer hats that are Hard and Still and not pliable enough to conform to different head shapes!
This Whippet Fedora is still in Excellent used condition! There is LOTS of life in this Fedora! We always fill the picture gallery so you can see every detail, Nothing to hide! See pictures.
This was cleaned and shaped, this needed very little work. It was decided to leave this as a pinched crown - center dent. If you'd like a Center Dent only just write to us and we will do that for you, after you purchase the hat. We will send you pictures before shipping for your approval.
It's a real looker! That wide bound edge is really stands!
You can see that this is a 1940s model Whippet, Stetson because of the “Keyhole 3/8 Size Tag” and there is NO plastic overlay on the liner. That happened post 1949.
This is a Light Brown color as seen in the picture of the whole underside is the best representation of the color. Not sure why we can't get the color to always come out consistently? Anybody out there has any suggestions?
You can see that Dad has added a Brown coat trolley string. It is not attached but any decent tailor can do that work. Or the end of the string can be trimmed off and used as a decorative piece? The Coat Trolley string is very elastic. It's out of Dads old stock from the 1960s. If you are looking to upgrade your current fedora with a coat trolley string Dad has a few of these listed.
Dad has also added that Beautiful Peacock Feather to this fedora! It really makes it look outstanding! It is removable if you don't like it?
The Feather set is still in Great condition. You can see we removed the Feather set so you can see what's behind it! Again, we NEVER hide anything!
This was cleaned and shaped by my grandson and dad! This looks great with a perfect dip in the front! This is one of my grandsons hats! We took out Dad's collection of 1950s Stetson Beaver Hats: 3X, Ten, Fifteen, Twenty and TwentyFive. This best matches a 15X Beaver. This was a higher quality hat that could be an everyday hat. This is extremely soft and pliable and can easily steamed into any shape or style you desire.
It's easy to determine the Beaver quality of any hat when steam shaping it. It will all depend on how “Buttery-Soft” it feels when working the hat. This was easy to determine.
This is a hat folks will notice! Not many folks will have this one.
Like always we measure each hat 3 times to verify its true size. Back then there was no hat size standardization, that came about in the 1970s when most the major hat companies agreed upon the Tilley Hat Size Chart. That is what we use.
This measures to a Perfect Size 7-3/8!
